The illusion of a turbocharger leaking oil

Many people ask if the turbocharger leaks oil, does it mean that the turbocharger is broken? Let’s take a look at the illusions that cause the turbocharger to leak oil.

1. Engine valve oil seal

Valve oil seals can prevent engine oil from entering the intake and exhaust pipes, causing oil loss, preventing the mixture of fuel and air and exhaust gas from leaking, and preventing engine oil from entering the combustion chamber.

After the valve oil seal is aging and damaged, the engine oil enters the exhaust pipe through the valve oil seal and enters the turbocharger. At this time, the illusion of oil leakage of the turbocharger is caused.

2. The air flow pipe is blocked

The blockage of the intake pipe refers to the pipe from the turbocharger to the air filter. If it is blocked, it will cause the turbocharger to leak oil. Timely detection and dredging of the pipe can avoid unnecessary losses.

If found late, the turbocharger will be damaged due to lack of lubrication.

3. Air leakage in the intercooler

For supercharged engines, the intercooler is an important component of the supercharging system. Air leakage in the inter-cooling and inter-cooling pipelines will cause the turbocharger to not work on the engine and run at an excessively high speed, which will cause a small amount of oil to leak and cause false impressions.
